The Well Dress'd Peasant:  16th Century Flemish Workingwomen's Dress  by Drea Leed
This is what a book for the serious costumer should be!  The focus is narrow, covering one aspect of Renaissance dress that is usually totally ignored.  There are a few large color reproductions that clearly illustrate how the dress in question was viewed by painters of the time.  Attention has been paid to written sources, as well as pictorial.  There are plenty of footnotes so that the author's research can be followed.  There are diagrams of patterns and instructions on construction.  If you have any interest in Renaissance dress, you need this book!
