The Viking Art of War by Paddy Griffith |
![]() |
| Among
the many books on Vikings on the market, this is unique. The
author applies modern military thinking (he was a senior lecturer in War
Studies at the Royal Military Academy) to his examination of the Viking
art of war and analyzes their tactics, seamanship, mobility, strategy,
concept of battle and how they exploited their victories and dealt with
defeat. There are a number of diagrams, maps and charts to make
the concepts easier to understand. While obviously a great deal of
research went into this, the result is easy to read rather than
academic.
