The Malcove Collection is a rather
idiosyncratic range of pieces willed to the University of Toronto by
Dr. Lillian Malcove. All 513 items are illustrated in this
catalog (mostly in black & white) and they include Coptic textile
fragments from the 6th to 12th centuries, wood furniture from the 15th
to 19th centuries, Flemish brassware, wood, stone and ivory carvings,
a good-sized group of icons from the 16th to the 18th centuries and
early period Byzantine jewelry. The text is mostly concerned
with giving an detailed description of each object. The regular
list price on this book is $39.95; because of a publisher's sale, I
have some much cheaper.
