English Costume from the Early Middle Ages Through the Sixteenth Century by Iris Brooke

This is a new reprint of a costume classic. The original books were published in 1936 and 1937 and a re-issue in the 1950's was incredibly popular with libraries. There is not a great deal of text but there are many black and white (and a few color) drawings done by the author. Even in the earlier section of the book, she shows the different details, especially hats. Although the clothes of the nobility get the most attention, she also includes working class clothes and pictures of children.
