The Ashkenazi Haggadah: A Hebrew Manuscript of the Mid-15th Century from the Collections of the British Library
If you are wondering why the cover picture has a gap in it, it is because this is a very large book (10 3/4" X 14 1/2") and only two-thirds of it would fit in the scanner at one time.  This shows a very lavish use of parchment, for this is a facsimile, reproduced at its original size.  This is the service that is read during the Passover Sedar and includes miniatures illustrating both the ritual and the biblical story.  The Ashkenazi Haggadah was created by Joel ben Simeon, a German artist and scribe who worked in northern Italy.  As well as the miniatures, there are many decorated words and letters as well as interesting marginalia.  In the back, the text is printed in modern Hebrew characters and translated into English.  There is an introduction and notes on the illuminations by David Goldstein, curator of Hebrew manuscripts at the British Library.

This was originally published in the 1985 and sold for $75 - a bargain publisher has now reprinted it at an excellent price.
