Anna Neuper's Modelbuch: Early Sixteenth-Century Patterns for Weaving Brocaded Bands

by Nancy Spies with Ute Bargmann

Unlike her earlier book, Ecclesiastical Pomp and Aristocratic Circumstance, this is a nothing but a pattern book and will not be of much interest to those who do not do tablet weaving.  That is, except for the introduction, which tells a fascinating story of the origins of these patterns.   These are a group of patterns for tablet-woven bands that were written down in the 16th century by a German nun.  Nancy Spies has put them in modern notation and worked them to remove some mistakes.
