years now, but this makes a good substitute, at least as far as clear,
well-printed reproduction of the important miniatures. Instead of
focusing on the artistic background of the Psalter, in this book, she
integrates what we know about 14th century English life with what we can
see portrayed in the realistic and detailed illustrations. The religious
images, for the most part, are not included. While the illuminator
will find this a source for unusual motifs, the student of everyday
medieval life will find this invaluable as the best single source of
visual information.
